And, sadly, all of that hard work is for nothing. Why? Well, because the answer was in front of our movie-watching faces all along. Perhaps we spent too much time watching How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, when we really should have been tuning into Austin Powers: Gold Member. So we passed off all cinematic creates in general, deeming them incapable of teaching us about the mysteries of love. Clearly, a clever writer in Hollywood just successfully hid the secrets to a lucrative relationship in the unlikeliest of films. The following are four recently discovered films that unlock the safe to an abundance of healthy, happy, fruitful relationships. Just follow the advice in the clips, and you are sure to never be led astray from total bliss.

1. Austin Powers: Gold Member
“Shall we shag now, or shag later?” [Listen]
A healthy relationship will be up front and honest. There is no reason to play games, or hide intentions. Just be blunt, unabashed, and forward. Really, what’s the worst that could happen?
“Eight years and no phone call?” [Listen]
If your significant, or would-be significant, other truly cares, they will make the effort. There will be a consistency in contact, date nights, and genuine displays of affection. If you haven’t had a phone call in eight years, chances are your relationships isn’t going all that well.
“Just because you’re 1/8 their size doesn’t mean you deserve 1/8 of their respect, does it?” [Listen]
Respect should be mutually shared in any relationship, especially a romantic one. So what if your significant other is a few feet shorter than you. The old adage of “treat others as you would like to be treated” applies, and should be a reminder to both parties that they constantly respect one another.
2. Elf
“First, we’ll make snow angels for two hours, and then we’ll go ice skating…” [Listen]
Spice things up! Make sure that you and your significant other enjoy the finer things in life every once and a while. Get off the couch, and go run around outside. Experiencing things together will lead to a lasting relationship, full of gum-drop memories.
“I just like to smile, smiling’s my favorite.” [Listen]
Work towards making one another happy. Obviously, you won’t always come on ridiculously perfect times. There will be a give and take, where one individual will need more from the other, and visa versa. However, if both of you work hard to make the other smile, the end result is a pair of shown-off pearly whites.
3. Happy Feet
“Boys! Give a chick a chance.” [Listen]
There will come a time, in any pre-budding relationship, when you’re going to have to take a chance. So buck up, watch your beak, and just go for it!
“Dear, I’m afraid that’s not even a tune.” [Listen]
Don’t be afraid to walk to the beat of a different drum. Create your own rules and boundaries for your relationship. At the end of the day, it is the two of you that have to co-exist. Others may try to tell you what you should be doing, and how you should be doing it, but as long as you are happy, your tune is just as valid as theirs.
4. The Mask
“Lots of things. For sharing a sunset with me…” [Listen]
Respect, romance, and the little things can go a long way. For the right person, they won’t go unnoticed, but instead be constant reminders of what the relationship is built on, and what I can become. So go a little crazy every once and a while, in order to make that special someone feel like a million dollars.
“Somebody with some integrity, somebody with…red hair and full pouting lips, a white blouse…” [Listen]
Don’t be afraid to fall back on family and friends, when hard times befall a relationship and/or when you are considering pursuing one. While, as previously mentioned, you should ultimately follow your own advice; sometimes it is extremely beneficial to listen to those who know you best.
And there you have it. So put down that back issue of Cosmo, stop scouring the advice columns, and just sit back, relax, and turn on a good movie. An abundance of happiness, and a healthy relationship, await!

I readily concur with your Elf comments, and thought along the same lines when I watched that movie umpteen times with my kids last year. You don’t need fancy dinners or fancy shows with the ones you love, two hours making snow angels will do. Good stuff!
I almost completely agree with Austin Powers, however I think I usually put it as “we can shag now and later”, just to make sure she’s paying attention.
