Lucky McKee’s The Woman caused a big stir last January when it premiered at Sundance and a viewer was caught on video admonishing the Sundance crew for showing it. Apparently it is goes pretty far. From the trailer, that looks confirmed.
The film is about a family who finds a feral woman in the woods and chains her up in the garage to civilize her… and what not. It is based on the novel written by Jack Ketchum, which is third in a series. [/Film]
Check out the trailer below, just not at work or with the kiddies.
And if you’re interested in the storming off at Sundance, /Film had the video posted. I’m super torn on the issue they are bringing up. Certainly a film like that can be made and distributed, but I wonder what kinds of warnings were given for this particular film. Was anyone there who could chime in?
I respect the director’s decision to do something a bit out there in terms of film norms these days, and the ending might give you a bit of a chuckle, if you hang in there that long, but in the end found it to be a rather low end mediocre movie, so 5 out of 10.
Nice. I’ve been hearing more and more of your side of things.
