Trailer: 50/50 starring Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt

A film about cancer that is both funny and seemingly pretty dramatic is rare. Writer Will Reiser and Director Jonathan Levine attempt it with 50/50 starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen (who also produces), Anna Kendrick, Anjelica Huston, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The buzz so far is that it’s pretty damn good and even Oscar-worthy, if voters can get passed that whole “we hate comedy” angle.

The film focuses on Gordon-Levitt’s character’s recent diagnosis with cancer and subsequent 50/50 survival prognosis. He deals with the reactions of his mother (Huston), his best friend (Rogen), his girlfriend (Dallas-Howard), and his new psychiatrist (Kendrick) as he attempts to face his chances at survival… and picking up chicks with the sympathy vote.

The second trailer has been released and definitely hypes up the comedy bits. The first trailer was more balanced between the comedy and the drama. It also has a few of Hollywood’s biggest up-and-comers like Gordon-Levitt and Kendrick. Never a bad thing.

50/50 hits theaters on September 30.
