The Broadway musical turned movie, Rock of Ages, is being produced by Adam Shankman (which is why we won’t be seeing him as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance — boo). It stars Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, Catherine Zeta Jones, Paul Giamatti, Malin Ackerman, Diego Gonzalez Boneta, Julianne Hough, and Alec Baldwin.

Synopsis: Rock of Ages stars Boneta as an aspiring songwriter and musician who meets an LA newcomer (Hough). She also ends up entangled with arrogant rocker Stacee Jaxx (Cruise). Baldwin, Blige, and Giamatti are also in the cast, and they’ll each get to sing their way through a selection of ’80s hair-metal hits, power ballads and arena-rock staples.
Rock of Ages is scheduled for release June 1, 2012.
