Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman (not to be confused with Relativity’s untitled Snow White film), has dwarves in it. Eight, actually, and all named after Roman rulers: Caesar, the eldest; Nero: “Grumpy”; Tiberius, the biggest; Hadrian and Trajan, twins; Constantine, the blind one; Claudius, the timid one; and Gus: “Dopey”.
So far we know that Caesar, the eldest and enemy the The Evil Queen, will be played by Ian McShane (Lovejoy, Deadwood). He joins Charlize Theron as The Evil queen, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) as the Huntsman, Sam Claflin (Pillars of the Earth) as the Prince, and Kristen Stewart as Snow White. [THR]
Additionally, we heard that Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, and Toby Jones are in the running to fill some of the additional dwarf roles.
- Caesar: Ian McShane
- Tiberius: Eddie Izzard
- Hadrian and Trajan
- Constantine Bob Hoskins
- Claudius: Toby Jones
Eddie Marsan and Stephen Graham are in talks as well, though we don’t know for which roles. Really interesting choices are going on here, especially so when they have every regular-sized actor at their disposal thanks to the magic of digital effects. We’ll keep you posted on the rest of the dwarf casting as we get the info.
